Text Box: Last week at my team luncheon at work, my supervisor asked what our favorite Christmas memories were. I have several that come to mind, but my most favorite are the Christmas Eve celebrations at my Nannie Sara and Grandpa's house. I remember spending the night on December 23 so that I could be there early on the 24th to help them set up. Once I got older I learned that my mom still had some wrapping to do and needed me and my sister Lori out of the house. I remember filling up candy dishes with the "pretty" hard candy in the tall canister and then refilling them after Lori helped emptying them. My grandpa would put tables together to make one big table so the whole family could sit together. Gift time could take up to three hours, then dessert. There was also the excitement before Christmas of getting the outfit to wear and telling my cousins. There was Christmas music from the Sal Soul Orchestra and Johnny Mathis. It was one big Italian Christmas Eve. Since then I've made other memories, I got engaged on December 23, 1994, then had my first baby on December 2, 1997. Yes, I put from Santa tags on her gifts even though she was only 3 1/2 weeks old. Sadly, grandpa is no longer with us, and Alzheimer's is stealing Nannie from us. And like my mom, I've had to send my kids to grandma's because I had to get ready for Santa. I hope all my family and friends had a very Merry Christmas.

Text Box: Establishing a new tradition
Text Box: It wasn’t planned but it certainly looks like it’s working out that way. For the past three weeks Mom and I have been meeting up with my great niece Kelly for lunch. Our usual spot is Millers Ale House. Going out with Kelly brings back such great memories of me taking out my nieces, Kim, Christine, Karen, Lisa and Lori. I use to take them with me everywhere. All five of them in my Toyota Supra hatchback. To get those years back would be incredible.
